What is the Business Activity Monitor (BAM)?
Lack of visibility of file transfers puts organisations at risk of breaching SLAs and compliance requirements. But providing endless reports for different departments is time consuming for IT. The Business Activity Monitor – or BAM – is a simple solution to these challenges. It’s an add-on to your MOVEit solution from vendor Accolm.
BAM is a web-based analytics platform, which monitors all transfers executed on the MOVEit Server. It provides in-depth monitoring for technical teams and is simple for your business users too.
The configurable dashboard provides real-time visibility all in one place. You can search for any file transfers, check their status and be alerted if expected files have not been delivered on time. The latest version can monitor multiple MFT environments at the same time too.

Key Features of the Business Activity Monitor
Dashboard
The BAM dashboard shows key performance indicators in charts, including: Passed or missed expected SLAs; transfers per business unit; percentages of success versus failed transactions; most active partners; transaction trends and more.
Alerts and notifications
Set up alerts if expected files have not been delivered on time. You can track your business critical Service Level Agreements (SLA) and get notification when they pass or fail. This provides a simplified and more reliable SLA management process. There more SLA functionality in the BAM Enterprise edition.
Self-service capabilities
BAM reduces time spent by IT checking transfers for finance, HR and other departments. With BAM, business users can track relevant transfers themselves. This helps reduce the overall cost of managing your MOVEit Server. And there is no need to grant MOVEit Server access to end users.
Security
The Business Activity Monitor includes access control and authentication via Activity Directory or the BAM authenticator. Fine grain access control allows you to limit what users can see. It is entirely flexible so you can configure this as you need.
Monitor multiple MFT environments from one place
The Business Activity Monitor can monitor multiple other file transfer servers too. Whether that’s multiple instances of MOVEit, or a combination of different MFT products (HelpSystems GoAnywhere, Globalscape EFT, Ipswitch MOVEit and IBM Sterling). This removes the need for different analytics components or modules, providing complete visibility in one place. This feature comes with BAM Enterprise.
Self-service portal
You can opt for the additional Self Service Portal (SSP) too; a web-based tool allowing external partners to track file transfers executed on the MOVEit Server. This helps meet SLAs and further reduces support demands and associated costs.
